What does the Bible say about life after death? For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth...no more shall be heard in it the sound of weeping and the cry of distress. No more shall there be in it an infant that lives but a few days, or an old man who does not fill out his days...they shall build houses and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit. They shall not build and another inhabit, they shall not plant and another eat...my chosen will enjoy the work of their hands. Before they call I will answer... Isaiah 65:17-24 RSV ...The holy city had all the glory of God and glittered like some precious jewel of crystal-clear diamond....The wall was built of diamond, and the city of pure gold, like clear glass...I could not see any temple in the city because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb were themselves the temple...on either bank of the river were the trees of life, which bear twelve crops of fruit in a year... Revelations 21:10-22:2 JB Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; the first heaven and the first earth had disappeared now..."Look, here God lives among human beings. He will make his home among them...He will wipe away all tears from their eyes, there will be no more death, and no more mourning or sadness or pain. Revelations 21:1-4 JB Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool; what is the house which you would build for me, and what is the place of my rest? Isaiah 66:1 RSV And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they wll be like his glorious body. Philippians 3:20, 21 NIV ...The water I give will become a spring of water gushing up inside that person, giving eternal life. | God, the idea of eternal life is so hard to picture. I like to trust what I can see. There are so many scientific concepts that we are only beginning to touch on, so much in the universe we haven't seen. Help me admit the possibilities and see hope in my future. Wave away my fear of death and help me live my life without apprehension. Help me see that you only have the best in mind for me, and help me walk toward that. |
